Independent by design

About This Project

A small, transparent tool for reading historical ingredient evidence without pretending the evidence says more than it does.

Comedogenic ratings are repeated across skincare sites as if they were universal product rules. Their original test conditions, ranges, source variation, and formulation limits often disappear along the way.

Comedogenic Checker exists to keep those missing pieces attached. It provides a fast browser-side lookup while preserving source locations, ranges, unknown entries, and a direct explanation of what an ingredient-level screen cannot establish.

Editorial principles

01

Evidence stays attached

Every rating needs a traceable source and model. A number without context is not enough.

02

Unknown stays unknown

An unmatched name is not silently converted into a favorable result.

03

No hidden commercial nudge

The launch site contains no paid placement, affiliate recommendation, or replacement-product funnel.

04

Corrections are versioned

Data changes require evidence, a new version, and passing integrity tests.

Who is responsible

Comedogenic Checker is an independent educational web project. It is not a dermatology practice, laboratory, cosmetic manufacturer, retailer, or certification body. Content is compiled from the cited literature and public nomenclature sources; it is not presented as personal medical guidance.

The current release has not been clinically reviewed by a named dermatologist. That fact is stated plainly rather than implied through design. Clinical review is a future trust improvement, not a claim attached to this launch dataset.
